Ping H

Regional Director - Greater China & SE Asia

BComm & BAppFin, CPA

UCLA Certificate - College Counseling (awarded with Distinction)

Ping was barely a teenager when she migrated to Australia from China with her parents. Several years later, she attended university as a first-generation student. Ping has lived through all the challenges of a first-gen college student who happens to be an international from a non-English speaking country.

Having been involved in college counseling for nearly four years, Ping works primarily with ivyO’s international clients whose students aspire to attend colleges or universities abroad.

When building a college list, Ping holds dear the principle of “fit” over “ranking” or “brand”, and she consistently shares these values with her students.

Sam C

Senior Consultant - Greater China

BEcon

Over the last seven years, Sam has worked in China as a college consultant. Sam’s favorite part about working with students is helping them to express themselves in their college essays. To Sam, it's an honor to mentor students through their process of self-discovery, and it's a privilege to work with students as they craft meaningful narratives that genuinely present who they are, and how they have positively impacted in their communities.

Sam believes that while the college admissions process can indeed be very stressful, but with proper planning, implementation and execution, our students can scale the most challenging mountains.

Sam says, “College is more than just a place of learning, it's a student's home for four years, and I look forward to helping our students find the paths towards their best-fit college."

Chris L

Senior Consultant - SE Asia

BA

Chris has been a college consultant for more than six years, and has worked in different parts of South-East Asia. Chris knows that one of the common misconceptions about US college admission is that some students and parents feel compelled to “check” as many boxes as possible to look “good” in front of admissions officers. In helping students, Chris always reminds them that while colleges may seek to build a well-rounded class, that class is comprised of specialists in their respective fields. As such, Chris loves helping students find their authentic specialization with which they can create positive impacts in their community.

Instead, Chris advocates for students to follow their passions and focus on those core interests, which in turn allow them to craft truly unique applications.

For Chris, one of the best parts of working with students is to help them identify their core interests. This self-discovery helps students not only during their admissions journey, but will serve them well into their careers and will enhance their capacity in making important decisions about their future endeavors.
